FAQ Friday: What is considered a group?

Four Seasons Travel LLC FAQ's, Groups, Vacation planning

Traveling together with friends and family is a fun way to make you trip even more enjoyable. It’s human nature to want to feel “comfortable” and familiar, and vacationing with those you know gives you just that.

But one question we get quite often is…How many people or rooms make a group, and can we get a discount if we bring a certain number of people?” The answer varies by property, but MOST hotels consider a group to be a minimum of 10 rooms. However there are some resorts (Sandals, Beaches, Secrets, Dreams, NOW resorts and a few others) that a “group” can be as few as 5 rooms traveling together over the same timeframe. Not necessarily the same dates, but within the same range of dates.

So what benefits does traveling in/with a group give guests? Some hotels and resorts offer amenities such as private group check in (when majority of group arrives at same time), complimentary room upgrades, free rooms, a per room discount, private group dinner and/or cocktail reception, group activities and more. Amenities will vary depending on resort and travel dates.

Groups travel together for a variety of reasons. It may be a destination wedding or vow renewal, a family reunion, a corporate group or incentive, a milestone life event celebration or just a gathering of friends who wish to vacation together. Whatever the reason, traveling together can provide many wonderful memories and experiences for everyone.
